How to choose the best TV and broadband deal
Here are the main factors you’ll want to consider when comparing TV and broadband deals.

Download limits relate to your broadband usage, or how much you download from the internet. If you’re online a lot, you may not want to place a limit on your connection.
- All our deals, including our TV and internet packages, offer unlimited broadband. So you can stream, game and browse the internet, as much as you like (subject to our fair usage policy).
Do read up on broadband speeds before choosing any TV and internet packages or fibre-optic broadband deals. If you routinely stream large HD videos or play online games, you’ll need a faster internet connection.

We have two methods for how to install Virgin Media broadband and TV deals. Depending on your postcode, you may be offered:
- QuickStart self-installation – just plug the kit in, no drilling or technical know-how needed.
- Or you can book one of our technicians for £30 and they’ll plug in the broadband and TV boxes for you (appointments are £0 where QuickStart is unavailable).
Because we run our own network, unlike a lot of providers, we can get TV and broadband deals up and running on the same day. The WiFi Hub will need to be installed first, then the 360 box and it doesn’t need a satellite dish or TV aerial putting up.
You’ll get one contract that covers both services together
You won’t sign a paper copy – simply check and agree to our terms and conditions online. This’ll include details of the price, services, dates and duration of the TV and broadband deals, and you’ll be accepting our policies on fair and acceptable use, cancellation and other legal stuff.
You’ll agree to have TV and broadband for 18- or 24-months (deals vary)
You can only cancel all or part of your package at the end of your minimum term unless you’re prepared to give us 30 days’ notice and pay cancellation fees. There’s some exceptions:
- If you need to move home, there’s no early disconnection fee for taking TV and internet packages with you to your new address.
- If you change your mind during the 14-day cooling off period, you can cancel TV and broadband packages with no fee.
Broadband and TV can continue as usual when your contract ends
You’ll receive an end of contract message before the minimum term of your broadband and TV deal comes to an end and it’ll explain what happens next. If you make no changes when you’ve completed your contract, there’s nothing you need to do to continue enjoying our TV and broadband.
Sure, we have phone, TV and broadband packages – you’ll just need to use our postcode checker (if you haven’t already) and see if they’re available where you are.
Check you can get our services in your home by popping in your postcode. Then pick a package that’s best for you. Once you’ve found one, let us know you want to switch when you place your order, and we’ll ask for your current providers details. We’ll need your provider’s name, plus your last name, address, account number, and the services you want to switch – broadband, home phone, or both. If we have trouble finding your details, either check your info with your current provider before placing your order again, or switch your services yourself and speak to them to cancel your services.
Your current provider will then send over details of your cancellation, including details of any early disconnection fees, which you should check before you agree to switch providers.
We’ll work with your current provider to seamlessly switch everything over, so you won’t spend a single second without WiFi or a working phone line. Your final bill with them and first bill with us won’t overlap, either – so you’ll only ever pay for one super-smooth service.
The length of time to switch providers usually depends on the type of installation you need for your home. Our QuickStart self-installation kit can be set up immediately and arrives in just four days. If your services need to be installed by an engineer, it could take a little longer as you’ll need to book in an appointment. If you’re switching your home phone to Virgin Media, it can take up to 10 days for your phone number to transfer across.
Our new switching process only covers broadband and home phone. Some providers might cancel your TV service when you switch your broadband, and some need you to contact them to cancel TV separately. Your current provider will send you this info when you start switching. Either way, you can still grab TV packages from us.
