By Chris Miller, Feature Writer

And in motorsport, the 2024 World Rally Championship will be decided, while a new season of Formula E begins.

The action from around the world includes the Aussie Rules and US women’s football with the AFLW and NWSL Grand Finals, as well as live games from the NBA. Add in a bit of boxing, UFC, badminton and pool, and sports fans will never be short of something to watch on TNT Sports.

Football: Premier League

If Leicester fans have a second favourite club, it’s probably not Chelsea. The west London club have earned a reputation for swooping in to sign the Foxes’ best players in recent years, from N’Golo Kanté to Wesley Fofana to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, the midfielder who was arguably the key player in Leicester’s 2023/24 promotion campaign. As if that wasn’t galling enough, Dewsbury-Hall has hardly played – plus Chelsea also nabbed City’s head coach Enzo Maresca. Yes, millions of pounds went the other way, but many fans would rather see them sporting the Leicester City badge. All this should add a bit of spice to their match on 23 November, live on TNT Sports.

This month there’s also an intriguing Merseyside derby: Liverpool are riding high in the Premier League while Everton are mired in the bottom half, but the Toffees will be determined to win what’s scheduled to be the last match against their rivals at Goodison. Tottenham, meanwhile, have recently proved good opponents for teams desperate for a win, like Palace and Ipswich, so Southampton will welcome them to St Mary’s enthusiastically on 15 December.

Football: UEFA Champions League

It’s tricky to have a real rivalry in Europe, but Liverpool and Real Madrid have managed it in recent years, meeting four times in the past seven seasons – two of those in Champions League finals. And although the Spanish side have very much had the better of it, Liverpool will feel that now is their time. Madrid are the reigning champs but they’ve struggled to find their best form both domestically and in Europe this season, while Arne Slot has led the Reds to an unprecedented string of wins since taking over in summer. The two face off at Anfield on 27 November.

In the same match week, Arsenal are in Lisbon, Aston Villa host Italian giants Juventus and Celtic are at home to Club Brugge, as TNT Sports brings you extensive live coverage of Europe’s top men’s football competition. The next round of games follows on 10 and 11 December.

Football: UEFA Europa League

There’s no doubt where attention will be focused in the Europa League: after a win and three draws, Man Utd have made a decent start, but the appointment of new manager Rúben Amorim brings extra expectations and one of those will be a lengthy European campaign. This month they entertain Norway’s Bodø/Glimt, who have recently made a habit of upsetting established clubs (remember the 8-3 against Roma?), before a tricky trip to Viktoria Plzeň of Czechia.

Spurs were flying until a defeat to Galatasaray so they’ll look to get back on track against Roma, while Rangers have a trip to the Côte d’Azur to face Nice. Then there’s an Anglo-Scottish clash between the two at Ibrox in December, which is sure to be a passionate occasion. On the same night, early Europa League leaders Lazio and Ajax meet in Amsterdam.

Football: UEFA Conference League

Chelsea were confident enough of success in the Conference League to leave star man Cole Palmer out of their league-phase squad. And they’ve been proved right, not least by their 8-0 win over FC Noah. Palmer will no doubt appreciate the rest while ruing the lost opportunity to add to his goal tally. This month the Blues have two away trips, first to Heidenheim of the Bundesliga and then to Kazakhstan to face Astana.

Hearts head to Brugge and then Copenhagen as they look to build on their wins over Omonia and Dinamo Minsk – any away point will be precious as they look to progress from the league stage. Cymru Premier representatives The New Saints welcome Djurgården of Sweden and Greece’s Panathinaikos to their temporary home, Shrewsbury’s New Meadow ground, where they beat Astana 2-0 in October.

Football: UEFA Women’s Champions League

The face-off between English and Scottish champions on Matchday 3 proved closer than most expected, as Chelsea – down to 10 after a late red card for striker Aggie Beever-Jones – hung on for a 2-1 win at Celtic Park. That will give Elena Sadiku’s Celtic team encouragement as they head to Stamford Bridge for the return fixture, when the Blues may be lacking in firepower with numerous forwards unavailable. It’s live on TNT Sports, and Chelsea can qualify for the knockouts with a win, while three points will keep Celtic’s campaign alive. Look out for another key game on Matchday 5 in December when all the British teams are in action again.

Football: Serie A

A dozen games into the season there’s a fairly unfamiliar look to the top of the Serie A table, with the top three places taken up by Napoli, Atalanta and Fiorentina and the Milan clubs and Juventus playing catch-up. Moise Kean, who was hotly tipped as a young striker but had trouble fitting in anywhere, seems to have settled in Florence where he’s banging in the goals, and the equally nomadic Romelu Lukaku is proving a solid replacement for Victor Osimhen at Napoli. The top scorer, though, is Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui, who’s bagged 11 already including a hat-trick against Genoa.

Fiorentina host Inter on 24 November, and it’s live on TNT Sports so you can find out how the pretenders fare against the champions. You can also watch early leaders Napoli against Roma, whose season is going badly enough for them to talk Claudio Ranieri out of retirement to take over as manager, and Conference League hotshots Lazio.

Football: NWSL

Two terrifically exciting semi-finals saw Washington score an added-time equaliser against Gotham and go on to win on penalties, while Brazilian legend Marta hit what turned out to be the decisive strike for Orlando over Kansas City Current in a 3-2 victory that kept fans biting their nails till the final whistle. Now the Pride face the Spirit at Kansas City’s CPKC Stadium for the NWSL championship; the teams were the top two in the table but Orlando took the league leaders’ Shield by four points, so they’ve got to be considered favourites. And surely no-one outside the DC side’s fanbase would begrudge 38-year-old Marta a medal. Tune in late on Saturday night for what’s sure to be a cracker of a final.

Final: Orlando Pride v Washington Spirit

Sunday 24 November, 1am, TNT Sports 3 HD (CH 529)

Football: A-League Men

And then there were 13. Auckland FC doubled the number of New Zealand-based teams in the men’s A-League when they joined this season; it’s given the league a slightly awkward number of teams (Canberra United’s mooted introduction has been delayed) but at least that means a rest for one team each with. The new club are owned by Bill Foley, whose sporting portfolio includes Bournemouth of the Premier League and the Las Vegas NHL ice hockey franchise.

They’ve had a great start to life in the A-League, winning three out of three – including the first “Kiwi Clásico” over Wellington Phoenix – to sit third behind the Melbourne clubs. You can see them live on TNT Sports four times this month, including against Wellington again, although some of the kick-off times are a bit of a challenge if you want to watch live. You can see champions Central Coast Mariners, who will be aiming to recover from a surprisingly slow start, against Newcastle, Sydney and Adelaide, with the games taking place mostly in daylight hours.

Football: A-League Women

Melbourne City topped the table last season – although they ultimately lost out to Sydney in the Grand Final – and they’ve started this season at a good clip, sticking five past Perth and then claiming the spoils from their derby match with Melbourne Victory with an exciting 3-2 win thanks to two goals from Venezuela striker Mariana Speckmaier. Can they keep up the pace and match the exploits of their sister clubs in the Premier League and WSL? You can see their match against Canberra, who also started with two wins, on 15 December as part of TNT Sports’ coverage of this improving league.

Rugby Union: Men’s Autumn Nations

There’s another packed weekend of international rugby union on the way, live on TNT Sports. Australia didn’t come to the Autumn Nations in great form but the tour’s gone well for them so far, with wins over England and Wales. Now it’s Scotland’s turn to face the Wallabies, roared on by a packed Murrayfield, with confidence coursing through the side after racking up with tries against Fiji and Portugal.

It’s a big weekend for Wales too as they face world champions South Africa, who handed them a 41-13 tonking at Twickenham in the summer. Wrapping up what’s been an action-packed series is Ireland’s home game against Australia in Dublin, which you can see on TNT Sports on 30 November.

Rugby Union: Premiership

Domestic English rugby union returns at the end of November, and it was Bath who had surged to the top of the table ahead of the pause for internationals. They kicked off with a 38-16 win over Northampton and have barely looked back, especially when scoring 55 against a hapless Gloucester. Finn Russell’s deadly kicking has put him among the leading scorers, while centres Ollie Lawrence and Will Butt have received plaudits, including being named among September’s players of the month. They face Exeter on 30 November – and the Chiefs, finding themselves near the bottom of the table, will be desperate to get their season back on track. On the same weekend, Harlequins host Bristol and Leicester visit Sale.

Harlequins v Bristol Bears

Rugby Union: Premiership Cup

Gloucester had a Premiership campaign to forget last season, finishing last but one in the table – but they flourished in the Premiership Cup. After topping a tricky group that included Harlequins and Saracens, they blew past Exeter in the semi-finals to set up a final date with Leicester, and claimed the trophy with a convincing 23-13 win thanks to tries from Seb Atkinson and Cam Jordan, plus George Barton’s kicking accuracy. This month there’s a repeat of that semi-final at Kingsholm as the Chiefs arrive struggling to find form. Gloucester fans will be hoping for a springboard to another successful run in the tournament.

Pool E: Gloucester v Exeter Chiefs

Friday 22 November, 7pm, TNT Sports 3 HD (CH 529)

Rugby Union: Women’s Premiership

In recent years the top women’s league has been dominated by Gloucester-Hartpury and Saracens, but it looks as though Exeter Chiefs have had quite enough of that, thank you. They surged to the summit of the Premiership with six wins in six, including a 55-10 thrashing of Leicester and a crucial win over champions Gloucester-Hartpury, inspired by two tries from Canada international Mikiela Nelson.

Bristol Bears, who’ve had an up-and-down season so far, will face a tough challenge when the Chiefs visit on 7 December, live on TNT Sports – but in wing Millie David, they’ve got an early contender for leading try scorer. It could be closer than results suggest. Sadly, you won’t see Jodie “Fury from Gladiators” Ounsley playing for Exeter – she left at the end of last season to “pursue other opportunities”.

Saracens v Harlequins

Sunday 24 November, 2.45pm, TNT Sports 4 HD (CH 530)

Sale Sharks v Leicester Tigers

Sunday 1 December, 11.30am, TNT Sports 1 HD (CH 527)

Loughborough Lightning v Harlequins

Saturday 14 December, 2.45pm, TNT Sports

Rugby Union: SVNS Championship

The always exciting international sevens – sorry, SVNS – competition returns for a new season, with the first round taking place in Dubai. New Zealand are the perennial top performers in the men’s event (they’ve won 14 of its 25 editions) but last season it was France who emerged triumphant, after they poured resources and focus into their sevens team with the aim of winning Olympic gold in Paris. Which they duly did. Great Britain compete as a united team here, so don’t look out for England, Scotland or Wales matches.

In the women’s event, Australia and New Zealand have shared the 11 titles between them, with the Aussies the most recent champions – but the French, runners-up in 2022 and 2024, are pushing them close. And surely England will want to see their XV rugby dominance reflected in the VII version soon. Get up early to watch an action-packed weekend of fast-paced rugby.

Day 1

Saturday 30 November, 4.45am + 2.45pm, TNT Sports 3 HD (CH 529)

Day 2

Sunday 1 December, 5.15am, 9am, 12.30pm + 2.30pm, TNT Sports 2 HD (CH 528)

Cricket: Men’s Internationals

You never quite know what you’re going to get from the England men’s Test team under head coach Brendon McCullum, with his gung-ho caution-to-the-wind approach (that he really doesn’t want people to refer to as “Bazball”). The recent tour to Pakistan was a case in point: England played some brilliant cricket at times – remember that 823 for seven in Multan? – but ended up losing the series 2-1. New Zealand are serious opponents, especially on home soil, and while England certainly have the talent and steel to beat them, we wouldn’t like to make any predictions.

Uncapped wicketkeeper Jordan Cox (covering Jamie Smith’s paternity leave) and all-rounder Jacob Bethell have been called up. Expect entertainment that’ll keep you awake into the small hours. There’s plenty more cricket to entertain you this month on TNT Sports, with West Indies facing Bangladesh in both red-ball and white-ball matches, and a Test series between the world’s two top-ranked teams, Australia and India, starting in Perth on 22 November.

MMA: UFC

After Deiveson Figueiredo lost the UFC flyweight championship at UFC 283, he stepped up to bantamweight and put in some impressive performances, beating Rob Font, Marlon Vera and former champ Cody Garbrandt. He’s getting closer to a
shot at the championship with a fight against another former champion, Petr Yan, at this month’s UFC event in Macau (watch out for that unusual start time if you don’t want to miss it).

Then the UFC is back in Vegas for a title fight in Figueiredo’s former division, where Brazil’s Alexandre Pantoja is defending his belt against the challenge from Kai Asakura, who would become the first official Japanese UFC champion were he to win. Also on the bill is a welterweight clash between Shavkat Rakhmonov and Ian Machado Garry, as well as a heavyweight bout featuring Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov. Ireland’s Machado Garry was supposed to be headlining the following week’s event against Joaquin Buckley before he was added to the UFC 310 card; Buckley will now face Colby Covington.

Lawrence Okolie, a former world cruiserweight champ, returns to the division in which he competed in the 2016 Olympics when he makes his heavyweight debut against Germany’s Hussein Muhamed.

Motorsport: World Rally Championship

The teams are in Aichi, Japan, for the final round of the 2024 WRC and the Belgian pair of Thierry Neuville and Martijn Wydaeghe need just six points to secure the title. Estonia’s Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja are just about within reach in second place but they’ll need disaster to befall their fellow Hyundai competitors, while Toyota’s British duo of Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin require a genuine miracle if they’re going to leapfrog the top two. Motorsport: Formula E Championship

Formula E is back and Pascal Wehrlein returns to the driving seat of his powerful Porsche, aiming to defend the championship he won last season, when he pipped Jaguar’s Mitch Evans by just four points. However, lots of fans will be looking out for Wehrlein’s team-mate António Félix da Costa, whose late charge up the standings made many think he could pull off an unlikely underdog win. It didn’t quite happen, but the Portuguese driver’s talent is evident. Could he be the one to watch in this season’s electric series? The action from São Paulo is live on TNT Sports on 6 and 7 December.

Basketball: NBA

He may be 39 now but LeBron James just keeps making headlines. This season it was when he and 19-year-old Bronny became the first father and son on the court together in an NBA game, when Bronny came on in the Lakers’ season opener against Minnesota. While the younger James has since been moved to the Lakers’ minor league team, his dad’s still tearing it up in the NBA, leading his team to a 9-4 record and second place in their division at the time of writing. Catch them at Phoenix in the early hours of 27 November and at home to Oklahoma City on 30 November, with lots more NBA action to enjoy on TNT Sports this month – including games from the league’s in-season knockout competition, now renamed the NBA Cup.

Australian Rules Football: AFL Women’s

We could see a repeat of last year’s Grand Final if North Melbourne and Brisbane Lions can get through the preliminary finals. Brisbane won that match by 17 points so you can bet North Melbourne will be gunning for revenge. Another possibility is an all-Adelaide clash between Port Adelaide and the Crows. Port Adelaide, based in the suburb of Alberton, only joined the league in 2022 and this is their first time in the finals, but they’ve already seen off Richmond (by 24 points) and Hawthorn in impressive style. Could they go all the way? The Grand Final is on 30 November.

Badminton: BWF World Tour

When the China Masters – a Super 750-grade tour event with a prize fund of well over a million dollars – was staged in 2023 for the first time in four years, it was in a new home: the striking Shenzhen Dayun Arena in Guangdong province, not far from Hong Kong. And Chinese players proceeded to dominate the occasion, winning the women’s singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles. They’ll look to add the men’s singles as well this year through top seed Shi Yuqi, although the Danish pair Viktor Axelsen and Anders Antonsen look dangerous. Chen Yufei won’t be defending her women’s singles title, for which South Korea’s An Se-young is the favourite.

Next up it’s the Syed Modi International in Lucknow, as the top players prepare for the big one: the BWF Tour Finals in Hangzhou, with total prize money of $2.5 million up for grabs, in mid-December. Follow the tour on TNT Sports.
