Let Spotify provide the soundtrack of your summer with our step-by-step guide to the music streaming service

By Virgin TV Edit

Spotify and Google recently shared what we’ve been listening to in lockdown, with data taken from 10 May to 10 June, based on what people have been searching for on their Nest and Google Home speakers.

There has been a 45% increase in Spotify playlists focused on summer tunes. Google Trends reports that searches for “summertime songs” have increased by 1,150% and “songs that remind you of summer” by over 1,000%. Drake, Lady Gaga and The Weeknd were the most streamed artists on Google devices around the world and the top song was The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights.”

Spotify has made a personalised playlist called Your Summer Rewind, where you can listen to the songs you were obsessed with last year. You can also check out what the app thinks the most popular tracks will be this season on the Songs of Summer playlist, which features Childish Gambino’s “This is America,” Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright,” Harry Styles’ “Watermelon Sugar” and Lady Gaga’s “Rain on Me.”

Download Spotify for iOS, AndroidMac or Windows to get started. We know you’re dying to press play on the songs that are just as hot and fresh as your BBQ, so check out our top tips below and then dance and sing along to your sizzling summer anthems.
