Locations where Bodyguard was filmed
A tense psychological thriller, Bodyguard pairs a controversial politician with a military hero tasked to protect her. The twist? He’s suffering from PTSD and the terror threat is high. You might be disappointed to hear that, unlike its movie near-namesake, there’s no Whitney Houston soundtrack.
The political edge to Bodyguard meant that a lot of filming was done around London, so you’ll recognise several well-known locations. But there are also some more rural locations.

The tense opening scenes of Bodyguard were filmed at Dereham railway station, part of the Mid-Norfolk Railway. Don’t worry, no commuters were put at risk as this station only runs heritage railway trains since the regular line closed in the 1960s. Check the station schedule before you visit as you may be able to enjoy a historic steam train ride.
Budd’s home can be found on the Whittington Estate in Camden. This iconic estate was built in the 1970s. Its unique style often attracts architecture lovers as well as film producers. It may look gritty on film but, in real life, it’s a nice neighbourhood and makes for an interesting walk.
The National Trust estate Ham House is used for the Prime Minister’s Chequers residence. This 17th-century estate is certainly used to hosting high-profile people. It has been the home of many dukes and duchesses over the years. Ham House is notable for its beautifully preserved Jacobean style, both inside and out. It has also been seen in several period dramas.
If you’re ever in need of a place to escape it all, make it the South Place Hotel. This five-star hotel was used as the luxurious safe house of the Home Secretary. Frankly, you’d take a bit of danger if you could stay in one of their stylish rooms or suites. Only visiting for the day? Head to the outdoor cocktail bar decadently decorated with big fur cushions and flowers hanging from the ceiling.
