One of the most recognisable locations in the show is where Otis lives with his mum Jean. This unusual house looks Scandinavian but it's really in the picturesque Forest of Dean and is currently available as a holiday let.
Although Moordale School looks like something out of a 1980s American film set, it’s actually a former university campus in Newport. It used to be the University of South Wales’ Caerleon Campus – currently empty.
Penarth’s Paget Rooms are a hub for public meetings, events and shows. But, in Sex Education, the interior of this Grade II listed building doubles as the school hall. You’ll see it throughout the show. It’s the location of the school dance in season one and the school play in season two. And it’s where Otis’ sex therapist mum gives her frank talk to the pupils.
The caravan park where Maeve lives is, unsurprisingly, a real caravan and camping site. It’s nestled in the Wye Valley, where much of the show’s scenes are filmed. Sterett’s Caravan Park features in practically every episode of Sex Education so it’s hard to miss. Of course, the show’s dubious park owners are entirely fictional!
The Wireworks Bridge in Tintern, on the border of Gloucestershire and Monmouthshire, is one of the show’s prettiest locations. Otis and Eric are often seen crossing this bridge on their way to school. This railway bridge was originally built to serve the wireworks which, ironically, closed before the railway was opened. The railway itself is now closed leaving one of the area’s best-loved attractions, along with Tintern Abbey.
If you’re wondering about the convenience store where Ola and Adam work, it does exist although the name is slightly different. The family that runs Brown’s Village Stores have been serving their local community since the 1920s.
In the first episode of season two, we see Adam taking part in exercises outside the military school. However, that magnificent gothic building in the background is Grade I listed Margam Castle. If you want to see it for yourself, the castle and grounds are open to the public.
Episode one of season two features a distracted Otis on a running track. This isn’t Moordale’s school field but Cwmbran Stadium in South Wales. As well as being home to Cwmbrân Town AFC, it has facilities for athletics, squash and indoor bowls.
