1. Doctor Who

The Fifteenth Doctor is back for more adventures through space and time with a new companion.

Obsessive stalker Joe Goldberg, now married, is attempting a stable life in New York but his dark past threatens to catch up with him.

Why we’re excited: After four seasons, we’re desperate to see the appalling Joe get his comeuppance in this final season. Will there be justice?

Two best friends love their weekly movie night but when Noa announces he’s moving away, Evie’s mental health suffers in this comedy drama.

Why we’re excited: We’re expecting these savvy questioners to draw unexpected revelations from their subjects, while giving a voice to often overlooked communities.
13. Riot Women

Five Yorkshirewomen form a punk band to win a talent contest and realise what was missing from their lives.

Why we’re excited: Happy Valley-shaped hole in your life? This marks the return of writer Sally Wainwright and promises to be far less disturbing.
14. Forever

Two young athletes navigate first love in a sweet coming-of-age drama series.

Why we’re excited: It’s inspired by the classic YA novel from the much-loved doyenne of the genre, Judy Blume.
15. Poker Face
Find season 2 on Sky Max HD (CH 111) on Friday 9 May
Accidental detective Charlie Cale, now on the run from a different casino owner, continues to solve small-town mysteries.
Stars: Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll) and high-profile guest stars including Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo, Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito, comic John Mulaney and more
Why we’re excited: Although adopting a classic case-of-the-week format, it’s one of the freshest and most original shows around, from the mind of Rian “Knives Out” Johnson.
16. Ridley
Find series 2 on ITV1 HD (CH 103) later this year
The return of jazz-loving former detective Alex Ridley, called on by the police to consult on complex criminal investigations.

Why we’re excited: There are no bent coppers, but this singing detective could be Dunbar’s best ever role.

18. Joe Lycett’s United States Of Birmingham

The Brummie comedian/painter/presenter/provocateur explores Birminghams in the US to find cultural commonality and friendship.
Why we’re excited: We’d watch Lycett do anything, and have, but throwing him into various unfamiliar environments to provoke culture-clash shenanigans is particularly inspired.
19. The Genius Game
Find it on ITV1 HD (CH 103) on Wednesday 30 April
A competitive reality show in which players use their strategic skills and “social IQ” to manipulate and outfox their rivals.
Stars: David Tennant, reprising the hosting skills he displayed at the BAFTA awards
Why we’re excited: Frankly it sounds like the most dastardly quiz show ever devised – The Traitors on a shiny floor.
20. The Couple Next Door

The second instalment of the spicy anthology series about what really goes on behind the curtains in suburbia.
Stars: Annabel Scholey (The Split), Sam Palladio (Nashville), Aggy K Adams (The Witcher), Sendhil Ramamurthy (Never Have I Ever)
Why we’re excited: The first series was Channel 4’s most streamed scripted show ever and with good reason – it’s absolute heaven for the terminally nosy.
21. Taskmaster

Another load of task-related mayhem that gives us insight into the way creative minds work and makes us scream with laughter.
Stars: Mathew Baynton (Ghosts), Fatiha El-Ghorri (Mr Bigstuff), Jason Mantzoukas (The Good Place), Stevie Martin (Late Night Mash), podcaster and presenter Rosie Ramsey
Why we’re excited: People like to rank them, but has there ever been a bad series of Taskmaster? No, there has not. And this looks like another brilliant combination of contestants.
22. Hacks

A cynical stand-up comedian and her headstrong young writer have achieved unexpected success – and they’re about to find out if they can cope with it.

Why we’re excited: Hacks is always wickedly funny but especially when Deborah and Ava’s relationship is spiked by genuine rancour – and after the season 3 finale, it has that in spades.

Cassian Andor must go from soldier to hero. As galactic war draws near, the betrayals, sacrifices and conflicting agendas will become profound.

A nine-year-old girl vanishes after a sleepover – and it’s just the start of a nightmare for her frantic parents.

Why we’re excited: A talented cast, a page-turner of a source novel (by Alex Dahl), and the instantly gripping plot should add up to another big British success for Disney+ after Rivals.
27. Clarkson’s Farm

Jezza’s back in the fields at Diddly Squat attempting to live off the land.

Why we’re excited: It’s a fascinating look at where our food comes from and the challenges farmers face, of course – but more than that, it’s completely changed the way we see Clarkson.

Why we’re excited: After Gibson wowed us as Doctor Who’s Ruby Sunday, we can’t wait to see her in a lavish period drama. Writer Debbie Horsfield is responsible for the much-missed Poldark.
29. How To Get To Heaven From Belfast

An unexpected death sends three lifelong friends on a dark yet humorous journey through Ireland.

30. Squid Game
