Spain is having a successful sporting summer and no mistake. With the men’s football team winning the Euros and Carlos Alcaraz winning the men’s Wimbledon singles title, they’re on top of the world. But despite a great Tour de France tradition with the likes of Miguel Indurain and Carlos Sastre, the country looks unlikely to add a Tour triumph to that list this summer. A pair of two-time winners, Tadej Pogočar of Slovenia and Denmark’s Jonas Vingegaard, are battling for the yellow jersey and you can see the final few thrilling stages on ITV4 and S4C.

Elsewhere this week (Monday 15 to Monday 22 July), the world’s most skilled tungsten wranglers are in action at the World Matchplay Darts in Blackpool, while England’s men enter their post-James Anderson era in the second Test against West Indies. There’s plenty of motor racing action in F1, Formula E and the World Rally Championship, with Super League rugby and international rugby union too. And from Thursday it’s all eyes on Royal Troon for the world’s most prestigious golf tournament, as the top players tee off for the 152nd Open Championship.
