It’s time for Crufts 2022!

Coats brushed, tails raised, treats at the ready; the goodest boys and girls are preened and primed for the return of the world’s greatest dog show…

By Jon Billinge, Staff Writer

With more than 20,000 canine competitors, thousands of attendees and a huge international audience, Crufts is the ultimate celebration of our four-legged friends.

And after its unfortunate cancellation in 2021 due to COVID, the event is back with a bark, promising four pawsome days of canine competition.

As ever, the event dates are split up by dog type categories, with the Working and Pastoral group up first (Thursday 10 March), followed by Terrier and Hound dogs (Friday 11 March). Utility and Toy breeds are next on Saturday 12 March, while Gundogs close up on Sunday 13 March.

A whole host of main and sub-events are spread across the dates, including such classics as live Flyball, Agility, Heelwork to Music and the coveted Best in Show title.

With up to 222 different breeds competing for the latter – which was won by Wire-Haired Dachshund Maisie (pictured below) in 2020 – there’ll be no shortage of cheers, tears, dribble and drama before the tournament is up.

Before the doggy drama dials up, we’ve scoured the Crufts archives to find the top doggos that forever left a pawprint on our hearts. From the wise and wiry to the furry and floundering, take our quiz below by channeling your inner canine to see which past Crufts superstar is your new spirit animal.
