24’s Keifer Sutherland is at his brooding best in this tense political thriller. When a bomb kills the US President and everyone who could succeed him, politician Thomas Kirkman (Sutherland), the eponymous “designated survivor”, is rapidly elevated into the Oval Office as leader of the free world. As the series unfolds, Kirkman attempts to juggle the investigation into the harrowing attack with trying his best to overcome his inexperience for the role.
