What does Virgin Media Essential Security do?

Essential Security keeps you and your family safe online by protecting any device that's connected to your home broadband network. It does this by blocking access to sites it believes are unsuitable for children, fraudulent or that contains viruses. The best bit? Because it's built into your home WiFi network, you get it at no extra cost and without having to lift a finger.

Blocks hackers and harmful content

Our base layer of protection is here to give you peace of mind when browsing online by protecting you and your devices from petty scams and persistent hackers. And if there’s anything malicious already on your devices, Essential Security will ensure none of your data is shared with anyone outside of your network, so long as you’re connected.

Provides adjustable parental controls

No setup fee

This promotion means you won’t pay the usual setup fee of £35. No setup fee is available on all bundles, broadband & phone, and broadband only packages. If you can set up using a Self-Install pack, but choose to use an engineer for the installation, you’ll still be charged £30 for this service.
