When you think about comedy movies, it’s hard to believe that two masters of the genre – Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon – haven’t been paired together before. When two separate weddings are booked at one venue on the same day, the father of the bride (Ferrell) in one bridal party and the sister of the bride (Witherspoon) in the other go head-to-head in this hilarious game of one-upmanship.

Reacher

Stream season 3 from Thursday 20 February in Apps > Prime Video now. Seasons 1-2 also available 

The hugely popular show based on Lee Child’s gargantuan book series is back for season 3. This time, it’s based on the Jack Reacher novel Persuader as the giant tank of a man (Alan Ritchson) must go undercover to rescue an informant held by a haunting foe from his past. Expect him to talk his opponent down and… nah, he’ll just throw a car at them or something. We can’t wait.

Doubters To Believers Liverpool FC: Klopp’s Era

Stream it from Friday 28 February in Apps > Prime Video now

Not the “last dance” Jürgen Klopp documentary Liverpool fans might have imagined when filming began midway through last season as the Reds were fighting for four trophies. Instead, this docuseries focuses on the German coach’s entire transformative era at the club, including unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to his final six months in charge, as he turned the club from a fading force into Premier League, European and world champions.

My Fault: London

In time for Valentine’s Day comes this feisty story of new step-siblings turning a mutual hatred into insatiable but dangerous love. Asha Banks and Matthew Broome star.

The Assessment

Stream it from Thursday 27 February in Apps > Prime Video 

Elizabeth Olsen and Alicia Vikander star in this drama set in a future world devastated by climate change. A couple must pass a test before being allowed to have a child.

Sing Sing

When Divine G (Colman Domingo) is wrongly imprisoned, he finds purpose in staging an original comedy with a theatre group of other incarcerated men. Based on a true story.

Reuniting the director, writer and stars of Forrest Gump, this generation-spanning story is about families and the special place they inhabit. Tom Hanks and Robin Wright star.

Amandaland

Snobby Amanda (Lucy Punch) kept a lid on her personal chaos for three series of Motherland but in this spin-off she has got divorced, downsized and, worst of all for her, moved to a less salubrious neighbourhood. Can she cope with this new reality? Well, the arrival of her even more judgmental mother Felicity (Joanna Lumley) won’t help… Philippa Dunne returns as the hapless Anne, while Siobhán McSweeney (Derry Girls) joins the cast – and Ghosts fans will be pleased to see that Laurence Rickard is on board as a writer.

The Apprentice

A pizza company owner, an air conditioning expert and a hair transplant consultant are among the business hopefuls taking part in the new series of The Apprentice, which marks 20 years on air in 2025. Tasks teased include creating a virtual popstar, turning potatoes and tomatoes into cash and marketing Easter eggs – so get streaming each week to see who will claim the £250,000 investment and, perhaps more importantly, who is willing to be disgustingly ruthless and sabotage the others.

Virdee

Staz Nair (Supergirl) stars as Harry Virdee, a by-the-book Bradford detective faced with a tricky case. A young drug dealer has been found murdered, but Harry’s compromised by his links to members of criminal gangs – and he fears those close to him are being targeted. Aysha Kala (Indian Summers), Kulvinder Ghir (Still Open All Hours) and Elizabeth Berrington (Lost Boys And Fairies) co-star in this gripping six-part drama, adapted by author AA Dhand from his own crime novels.

Daisy May Cooper and Selin Hizli’s comic thriller returns and, after explosive revelations in the series 1 finale, the relationship between Nic (Cooper) and Jen (Hizli) becomes even more complicated.

Ryan Dylan, co-writer and co-star of this four-part comedy about three young Northern Irishmen, says it’s about “innocent wholesome fun, growing up, dying, screaming mental health issues, videogames and the ultimate power of friendship”.

More adventures of the five inner-city teenagers placed in the posh St Gilbert’s school. With the shocking news that two scholarships are set to be taken away, the group are pitted against each other.

Big Boys

This warm and touching BAFTA-nominated sitcom about a shy young man negotiating university life has been one of the best British shows on TV in recent years – so while we’re sad it’s ending with series 3, the joy it’s brought is indelible. It’s the final year at Brent, and for Jack (Dylan Llewellyn) and Danny (Jon Pointing), their relationship is facing its biggest test: will they still be close once their student days are behind them? 

Two Men On A Bike

Stream it in Apps > Channel 4 from Tuesday 18 February

This looks to be another excellent entry into the “two old pals doing things together” mini-genre perfected by Mortimer And Whitehouse: Gone Fishing. David Baddiel and Hugh Dennis, who have known each other for 40 years and worked together on the seminal 90s comedy show The Mary Whitehouse Experience, cycle across France from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean while musing on life, bikes, the past, bottoms and more. And don’t worry – despite the title, they’ve got a bike each. 

Married At First Sight UK: Reunion Special

Stream it in Apps > Channel 4 from Monday 24 February. Married At First Sight series 1-9 also available

The romance! The rows! The tense dinner parties that almost spill over into food fights! We can’t get enough of MAFS, and this reunion special gives viewers what they crave by revealing what happened after the end of 2024’s series. What we know so far is that Adam and Nathan will be telling all about their respective liaisons with Polly and Lacey, with more contestants to be confirmed – although as ever, which ones choose not to return tells its own story.

Part sketch show, part artistic experiment, Random Acts Of Flyness reflects the beauty and ugliness of contemporary life using documentary-style filming, music, animation and drama. In this long-awaited second season, Terence (creator Terence Nance) and Najja (Alicia Pilgrim) navigate family, games, spiritual rebirth and a six-dimensional journey. It’s too surreal to be called comedy, but it’ll make you laugh, even if you’re not quite sure why.

Awake

Detective Michael Britton (Jason Isaacs, Archie) is in a car accident and when he comes round, he finds he is experiencing two realities: one in which his son died in the wreck, and one in which it was his wife who perished. So is one of them genuine, and the other in his mind – and if so, which is which? And can he negotiate both without losing himself? Uniquely unsettling and absorbing.

America’s Backyard Gold

It isn’t just in them there hills. Gold is turning up in all sorts of places now: sometimes uncovered by unstable weather, sometimes with the application of a little expertise and hard work. Gold mining veteran Dave Turin travels around the US, from California to South Dakota to the Dahlonega Gold Belt in Georgia, to help everyday folk hit shiny metallic paydirt. As you can imagine, he meets some eccentric characters along the way.

The fashion guru turns food influencer in this eight-episode series as he introduces viewers to a variety of south-east Asian dishes, all of which are super-simple to cook.

The Accused

Stream season 2 part 1 on Paramount+ from Thursday 6 February and season 2 part 2 from Thursday 20 February. Season 1 also available 

The anthology crime series based on Jimmy McGovern’s 2010 show of the same name is back for a second season. Each episode opens in a courtroom introducing the accused without knowing their crime or how they ended up on trial. The audience is then told the events that led them there from the defendant’s point of view. This first batch of episodes features William H Macy, Felicity Huffman and Michael Chiklis, with Cobie Smulders and Ken Jeong among those in the second batch.

NCIS: Sydney

Stream season 2 on Paramount+ from Saturday 8 February. Season 1 also available 

The NCIS universe has visited Los Angeles, New Orleans and Hawaii, but NCIS: Sydney has been one of the franchise’s most popular spin-offs with huge ratings for season 1. Special Agent Michelle Mackey (Olivia Swann) and her Australian Federal Police counterpart, Sergeant Jim ‘JD’ Dempsey (Todd Lasance), return as they join forces to keep naval crimes at bay in Sydney.

Yellowjackets

Stream season 3 on Paramount+ from Friday 14 February. Seasons 1-2 also available 

Using split timelines to tell the story of a team of a talented girls’ soccer team (the Yellowjackets) who become the survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote wilderness, Yellowjackets has been quite the ride in the first two seasons. Oscar winner Hilary Swank and The Bear’s Joel McHale guest star this time around in roles that – like this season’s story itself – remain a mystery.
