There’s a rumble in the jungle. There’s a whisper in the trees. The celebrities are waking up. And rustling the leaves. No, it’s not a new series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! but hotly-anticipated reality competition Celebrity Bear Hunt. The name of the game is simple enough: 12 unassuming celebrities are dropped into the middle of the Costa Rican rainforest, where they’ll have to muster up all their smarts, skills and courage to survive.

We know what you’re thinking. You’ve seen it all before. So, what makes this show so different to its reality predecessors? Well, getting through another day in the jungle isn’t the biggest test that these celebrities have to face. If the stars fail to impress expert adventurer Bear Grylls, then they’ll find themselves in a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game of survival as they’re hunted down one by one by the big man himself. That’s when the real fun begins.

Not only that, but with reports circulating about interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen’s death-defying challenge during the competition’s run and Strictly judge Shirley Ballas describing her experience as “one of the scariest things I’ve ever done” on her socials, we know we’re about to witness an entire new chapter in the book of reality TV. Don’t miss Celebrity Bear Hunt from Wednesday 5 February in Apps > Netflix. Meanwhile, get to know the cast ahead of the series launch date and find out how we think they’ll get on in the wilderness.

Chances of survival: With those dancing credentials, Shirley will surely twirl, fox trot, waltz and cha-cha-cha over any tricky obstacles or traps that Bear sets.

Danny Cipriani

Who: Danny Cipriani

Famous for: Playing rugby for England.

Instagram: @dannycipriani87

Chances of survival: Come on, Danny used to tackle big, burly opponents on a regular basis. The real question is: will Bear survive after an encounter with Danny?

Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen

Who: Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen

Famous for: Hosting interior design series Changing Rooms.

Instagram: @llewelynbowen

Chances of survival: We think that Laurence’s expert understanding of the colour wheel will help him master the art of camouflage. Celebrities, take note!

Steph McGovern

Who: Steph McGovern

Famous for: Presenting lunchtime chat show Steph’s Packed Lunch.

Instagram: @stephlunch

Chances of survival: As a quick-thinking journalist, Steph could have what it takes to stay one step ahead of Bear. Bonus points if she brings her own packed lunch (we’ll see ourselves out).

Lottie Moss

Who: Lottie Moss

Famous for: Her modelling career and being the half-sister of Kate Moss.
