Our WiFi guarantee with WiFi Max

Our superfast WiFi guarantee is our promise you’ll enjoy download speeds of at least 30Mbps in every room or get £100 bill credit.

Our WiFi guarantee is backed up by our signal-boosting mesh WiFi Pods (if needed) and Intelligent WiFi service. This means if you don’t get download speeds of at least 30Mbps in every room, you can bag up to 3 WiFi Pods, on us – and if that still doesn’t do the trick, we’ll pop £100 credit on your next bill.

How do I get your WiFi guarantee?

Our superfast WiFi guarantee (backed up by our WiFi Pods if needed) is included at no extra cost with our Gigabit Fibre Broadband and Volt packages.

You can also add WiFi Max to our M50 to M500 Fibre Broadband packs without Volt for £8 a month, and we’ll send you your first WiFi Pod. Whether you’re upstairs or downstairs, our WiFi Pods adapt to how and when you use your WiFi, and automatically tackle issues before you need to.

And with our free Virgin Media Connect app you can keep track of all your WiFi Pods and connected devices, check your WiFi Pods’ performance, get tips on where to put your WiFi Pods, and loads more.

How do the WiFi Pods work?

Our WiFi Pods give you more reliable browsing, gaming and show-streaming power, right where you need it. You just need to plug them into a socket halfway between a strong-signal spot and a weak-signal spot for an instant signal boost.

We’ll send you up to 3 Pods, one Pod at a time, to make sure you’re getting 30Mbps in every room.

Channel optimisation

We’ve added more channels to our existing Intelligent WiFi channel optimisation tech. This helps to keep your gadgets out of traffic jams by finding quieter channels to use.

Adaptive band steering

We've improved our band steering system to make sure more of your devices use the 5GHz frequency - the best option for stronger, faster WiFi.

In-home roaming

This feature helps to work out whether it's better to connect your device to your WiFi Pod or Hub as you move around your home.

How do I test my WiFi speed?

With the free Virgin Media Connect app, you can run a WiFi home scan to smooth out any snags. It’s our new-and-improved two-step speed test powered by internet performance checker SamKnows.

First, it tests your broadband speed to make sure there aren’t any issues. Then it guides you around your home, room by room, to check how your WiFi’s working in each one. Just connect to the Hub, tap Start the scan, and let the app take you through the rest. If the scan finds any areas without superfast WiFi, we’ll suggest ways to improve it – with our WiFi Pods, for example. Sorted!

1. Download the Virgin Media Connect app

Download the app on the App Store or Google Play.

2. Run a Home scan

Sign in to your account and select Home scan on the home screen

3. Wait for the results

After 60 seconds, the app will let you know if there are any issues and will recommend WiFi Pods if they’ll help solve the problem. 

Follow the instructions below to download the Virgin Media Connect app and get the green light on whether you need extra Pods or not.

WiFi Guarantee with WiFi Max


WiFi Guarantee with WiFi Max: Available to Virgin Media residential broadband customers on M50 broadband or faster. Excludes Essential broadband customers. Existing Intelligent WiFi Plus customers will be individually informed when they are moved to WiFi Max. £8 a month add-on or at no extra cost for Ultimate Oomph, Gig1, Gig2 and Volt customers. WiFi Max is only available to order once your Virgin Media broadband service has been activated. If you don’t get download speeds of at least 30Mbps in every room, if needed we’ll provide up to 3 WiFi Pods. If that still doesn’t do the trick we’ll give you a one-off credit of £100 off your next bill. Guarantee and eligibility for pods does not cover broadband faults or network outages. Pods subject to stock availability, require self-installation via QuickStart and can be delivered via Click & Collect or optional home delivery (£5 delivery charge may apply). Pod type provided may differ from image shown. Improved WiFi performance compared to use without pods. Home environment, device limitations, number of users and time of day may affect WiFi performance. User speed varies and depends on Pod/Hub location, as well as broadband package choice.
