By Laura Rutkowski, Senior Staff Writer

And don’t forget, you can also watch hundreds of Sky Cinema titles on up to five devices with the awesome Virgin TV Go app at no extra cost to Sky Cinema subscribers. It’s the perfect way to take a bit of movie magic with you. Find out more about the Virgin TV Go app here.
Military Wives
Inspired by a true story, Military Wives follows a group of women in England whose partners are serving in Afghanistan. Looking for a way to occupy themselves and build a community, they form the very first military wives’ choir – and they soon garner media attention. Kristin Scott Thomas’ Kate and Sharon Horgan’s Lisa bounce off each other as two delightful opposites attempting to organise the group. The Full Monty’s Peter Cattaneo directs.
A Boy Called Christmas
Adapted from Matt Haig’s best-selling book, A Boy Called Christmas introduces us to Nikolas (newcomer Henry Lawfull). He goes on an adventure to search for his father, who set out to find Elfhelm, the village of the elves. Along with a reindeer called Blitzen and a talking pet mouse (voiced by Stephen Merchant), Nikolas soon realises anything is possible if you just believe in the magic all around you. Toby Jones, Sally Hawkins, Kristen Wiig, Jim Broadbent and Maggie Smith round out the star-studded cast.
Godzilla Vs Kong
When two quite literal cinema greats go up against one another, it’s absolute carnage. They’re not quite gentle giants, but they do just want to go back home for the most part. With the fate of Earth sitting on a knife’s edge, are you team Kong or team Godzilla? Millie Bobby Brown, Alexander Skarsgård and Rebecca Hall star.
8-Bit Christmas
Remember when you were a kid and you just had to have the latest game, toy or gadget for Christmas? Well, this film is all about the lengths ten-year-old Jake Doyle (Winslow Fegley) will go to so he has the best video game system. With Neil Patrick Harris playing Jake as an adult, this story, set in the 80s, is sure to be a cracker.
A Christmas Number One
Available from Friday 10 December in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert PG
Music manager Meg (Freida Pinto, Slumdog Millionaire) leaves New York for London, where she begins managing boy band Five Together. Her aim is for them to reach the Christmas number one spot. When an ill girl posts a song, Meg tries to obtain permission to have it re-recorded by Five Together, but the girl’s uncle (Iwan Rheon, Game Of Thrones), who wrote the song, intervenes. Cue a Christmassy meet-cute in three, two, one…
In The Heights
Based on the musical from Quiara Alegría Hudes and Lin-Manuel Miranda, this is an explosion of the feel-good factor brought to the screen. Set in the Latino community of Washington Heights, the film follows an array of local characters, each with their own stories, dreams and disappointments. Get on your feet!
Peter Rabbit 2
Nope, you haven’t quite escaped James Corden yet as he voices Beatrix Potter’s furry little fellow in this second movie. When Peter tires of the garden life, and with Bea (Rose Byrne) and Thomas (Domhnall Gleeson) now married, he heads out for the big city. As it turns out, it can be quite a scary place for a certain somebunny.
The Suicide Squad
Following on from 2016’s Suicide Squad, director James Gunn reintroduces us to the merry band of misfits with a death wish, including Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), plus a bunch of new faces, like Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Peacemaker (John Cena) and King Shark (voiced by Sylvester Stallone). These supervillains are locked up in the Belle Reve prison, but when they have the opportunity to get out by joining Task Force X, they jump at the chance.
