Farmers Insurance Open
From Thursday 24 January, 8pm, Sky Sports Golf/HD (CH 515/505)
As amazing as watching some of the world’s most grizzled farmers duke it out against insurance salesman would be, witnessing the current roster of golf superstars take to the sun-soaked greens of San Diego’s Torrey Pines Course will have to do. Australia’s Jason Day will be looking to take his second successive win and his third overall when he returns to defend his title, but in a field packed with top talent, an upset isn’t off the cards.
Omega Dubai Desert Classic, from Thursday 24 January, 4am, Sky Sports Golf/HD (CH 515/505)
Waste Management Phoenix Open, from Thursday 31 January, 8pm, Sky Sports Golf/HD (CH 515/505)
NBA: Golden State Warriors @ Washington Wizards
Friday 25 January, 1am, Sky Sports Main Event/HD (CH 511/501)
The Golden State Warriors have been at their imperious best this season; regularly sending defenders scrambling into the shadow realm and racking up an eye-watering number of wins. The Wizards, meanwhile, are languishing in the bottom half of the Eastern Conference, and a shock win over the current NBA champions would provide a much-needed boost to their campaign.
Toronto Raptors @ Houston Rockets, Saturday 26 January, 1am, Sky Sports Main Event/HD (CH 511/501)
San Antonio Spurs @ New Orleans Pelicans, Saturday 26 January, 11pm, Sky Sports Main Event/HD (CH 511/501)
Cleveland Cavaliers @ Chicago Bulls, Sunday 27 January, 8.30pm, Sky Sports Arena/HD (CH 518/508)
2019 World Championships Of Ping Pong
From Saturday 26 January, 12pm, Sky Sports Arena/HD (CH 518/508)
If there’s one thing we love more than listening to S Club 7 or eating a perfectly ripe kiwi, it’s the rhythmic “thwock” of a table tennis bat against a plastic ball. It’s news to our ears then that the World Championships Of Ping Pong are in town! With the players using sandpaper bats that prevent them from putting mind-bending amounts of spin on the ball, they’ll need to draw on all their technical skill and speed to be in with a chance of being crowned the world’s best.
Scottish Premiership: Livingston v Rangers
Sunday 27 January, 3.30pm, Sky Sports Football/HD (CH 513/503)
It’s been a funny old season in Scotland. First, Heart of Midlothian looked to be running away with it. Then Celtic got their noses in front. Then, surprisingly, Kilmarnock looked to be in with a chance of taking the title. And then, out of nowhere, Rangers crept up on all of them. As such, Rangers’ upcoming clash with mid-table Livingston will be a fascinating test to see if Steven Gerrard’s side have what it takes to steal Celtic’s crown, especially when you consider their surprise loss in the same fixture back in September.
St Mirren v Hibernian, Sunday 27 January, 1pm, Sky Sports Football/HD (CH 513/503)
Betfred Super League XXIV: St Helens v Wigan Warriors
From Thursday 31 January, 7.30pm, Sky Sports Arena/HD (CH 518/508)
Bandages, plasters, magic sponges and shedloads of TCP being ordered in their droves to Rugby League clubs the length and breadth of Britain can only mean one thing – the Super League is back. And it’s back with a bang, with a titanic battle kicking things off. Wigan Warriors head to their fierce rivals St Helens without long-time coach Shaun Wane and superstar fullback Sam Tomkins. How the champions fare in their first season in the post-Wane era will add an intriguing plotline to what is sure to be another action-packed season.
West Indies v England, 2nd Test
Thursday 31 January, 1.30pm, Sky Sports Cricket/HD (CH 514/504)
Following their victories over Sri Lanka and India late last year, it’s safe to say England are on a high. West Indies, on the other hand, are looking to rebuild after a difficult 2018 that saw them lose more tests than they won. However, they still boast some of their trademark firepower and are more than capable of causing an upset on home soil.
2nd and 3rd ODI New Zealand v India, Saturday 26 January, 1.55am, and Monday 28th January, 1.55am, Sky Sports Cricket/HD (CH 514/504)
4th and 5th ODI South Africa v Pakistan, Sunday 27 January, 7.55am, and Wednesday 30 January, 10.55am, Sky Sports Cricket/HD (CH 514/504)
